Bob has been in the marine business for over 25 years starting with his own windsurfing business in 1978 after graduating from Baldwin Wallace College.
Coming to Florida in 1984 for a surf vacation he met his future wife and business partner Susan. Now as a husband & wife team they run the day to day operations of Florida Yacht which includes four charter bases with over 40 charter boats.
Bob is a valuable source of hands-on, practical knowledge; whether its yacht equipment installations, electronics, rigging, custom yacht refits.
Bob has his 100-ton US Coast Guard Captain's License, is an ASA certified sailing instructor and licensed Florida yacht broker. In addition to windsurfing, Bob has his private pilot's licenses and enjoys flying.
Capt.David Dodgen, Licensed Yacht Salesman
David is originally from central Texas and grew up on and around the inland
Texas lakes where he learned to sail with his father. Later, while racing in the
middle of the Texas nights, he and the other crewmembers would often dream about
sailing the oceans. He eventually fulfilled that dream in the early 80's and
became an active bareboat charterer for almost 20 years sailing in areas from
the Caribbean to the Med to the South Pacific.
Because of changes in the manufacturing sector, he was forced to change his
vocation and began applying these experiences to a boating career through an
association with the Hunter sailboat dealer in Dallas. After purchasing the boat
of their dreams, a Caliber 47LRC named Wildest Dream, he and his wife Gail,
packed up and relocated to Miami with Florida Yacht Charters & Sales. The
transition from selling smaller lake boats to worldwide cruisers and motor
yachts was a great challenge and learning experience. But the experiences have
paid off for his clients, as he has been able to help keep their dreams alive as
well.
He participates as one of FYC's ASA Sailing School instructors and has earned
his USCG Master 50T captain's license that has allowed him to perform several
deliveries and charters through the Bahamas and to the west coast of Florida. In
addition, he has made several extended trips through the Bahamas on his boat.
He is anxious to apply his experiences to help select the exact boat for his
clients.
